NRIC Holds its 32nd Annual Meeting

The Northern Rhode Island Collaborative (NRIC) held its 32nd Annual Meeting on March 22, 2018 at the Pawtucket Country Club, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. 

Following welcoming remarks from NRIC Chairperson, Ms. Georgia Fortunato, the Executive Director Joseph M. Nasif, Jr. presented the Executive Director’s Report with the opening remarks, “All of us here this evening are stakeholders in ensuring that all students, be they regular education, or special education, are provided the best possible instruction and services designed to maximize their potential.” This year’s Guest Speaker, former teacher at NRIC, Robert Dagesse, shared personal anecdotes and wisdom from years of working with this special population of students.

Along with a social hour and dinner, the ceremony proceeded with the presentation of a number of awards to exceptional faculty, staff, and administrators. The Infinity Award was given to candidates from various NRIC Programs in recognition of the employee’s effort to go beyond their daily job description. The recipients of this recognition were - Jonathan Paquin, Nancy Duffy, Maria Marks, Stephanie Rich, and Craig T. Enos. 

The Community Outreach Award, given annually to an individual who promotes the programs of the the Collaborative not only through the Blackstone Valley, and other member districts but throughout the state - someone who is a spokesman and the face of the Collaborative at a district level, State level, the Department of Education, and works with professionals and families throughout the State was presented to Lee Berthiaume. 

The Hall of Fame Award, presented annually to an individual who, during the formation of NRIC, has positively impacted the organization and contributed to the support of the classrooms and mission of the Collaborative, was given to Debbie Jannetta.

As described in our Mission Statement, The Northern Rhode Island Collaborative is a public, non-profit educational institution dedicated to providing special education programs and other educational services to school districts and community partners in Northern Rhode Island. Established in 1987, NRIC is committed ensuring that students in the community receive the best and most comprehensive education available in the least restrictive environment.
