The Northern Rhode Island Collaborative hosted their 31st annual meeting on March 23, 2017, at Pawtucket Country Club in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. From presentations to awards to connecting with friends and colleagues, the celebration was enjoyed by all of the membership that was able to attend.
Following a welcome by NRIC Chairperson Georgia Fortunato, members heard from Dr. Ken Wagner, Rhode Island’s Commissioner of Education, as he gave a keynote address that focused on the educational opportunities and choices that students, educators, and leaders alike will face in the near future. Melissa Devargas, an NRIC student addressed the audience as well, talking about her experience and how the NRIC has changed her life for the better. She will graduate this spring and attend the Community College of Rhode Island in the fall to follow her passion for veterinary medicine.
Executive Director Joe Nasif presented awards to NRIC staff members, recognizing their contributions to the success of the organization. Partner organizations and businesses were also honored, including Meeting Street Early Intervention, CVS Health, and Lil & Gene’s Family Restaurant.
